I love you, Chicago

Seems the fuck-your-feelings crowd sure has a lot of feelings about 7 million people peacefully protesting without incident yesterday, doesn't it? It's almost like they wanted cities in the country they profess to love to explode into violence. So weird.

Anyway. This isn't for them. This is for those of you who, whether you marched or not, watched yesterday with a glimmer of if not hope, some grim satisfaction that we are not giving up.

If you, like me, were standing among thousands of American flags shouting for peace and justice and love, only to come home and find on social media that you are actually an AI bot or a paid protester, maybe you're also frustrated this morning.

To you, I say this: Stop engaging. I don't know why they don't believe what they're seeing with their own eyes and hearing with their own ears. I don't know how they can justify a president who has said what he's said and done what he's done.

I do know that appealing to logic, reason, and humanity hasn't worked yet, and it isn't going to start now.

Ignore. Them.

They are part of the problem, and we need all of our focus on the solution. If you have to react, use the laughing emoji and move on about your day. Direct your energy to places where it makes a difference. Support minority-owned businesses, look out for your neighbors, and help the people you can see and touch, whenever you can. Join your community groups and check out your alderman's town hall.

There are so many organizations, groups, and communities doing so much good right now, and we're letting it get lost in this ridiculous back and forth with people who will never, ever, listen. You cannot reason with obstinance, and you cannot open someone's mind when they are desperate to keep it shut tight.

Keep doing the good things. We will all look back on this time, and we will all remember where we were, and what we stood for.
